Minutes from the special session held on Jan. 29 approved.
Dr. Sanchez’ proposal to adopt ZTR materials for ANTH 2301 and OER materials for ANTH 2101 approved.
Dr. Pintar’s proposal to revise award plans and program maps in AA and AS ANTH in response to TSU now accepted ANTH 2302 as an equal course for transfer was approved.
AA Anthropology:
Award plan: eliminate footnote 5. Edit the footnote numbers below #5.
Program Map AA Anthropology: eliminate advising note “ANTH 2302 does not transfer to Texas State University.”
AS Archaeology:
Award plan: eliminate footnote 4. Edit the footnote numbers below #4.
Program Map: edit the following advising note “Note: Must take ANTH 2301. Students planning to transfer to Texas State University must also take ANTH 2101; ANTH 2101 must be taken concurrently or after ANTH 2301”. In addition, eliminate the advising note “ANTH 2302 does not transfer to Texas State University.”
Informational items:
Professor Sondgeroth presented the results from the Economics IPR, which highlighted declining enrollment in ECON courses, declining ECON majors, and an increased share of DC/ECHS students.
Professor Jonsson presented results from the Geography IPR, which highlighted declining enrollment in GEOG courses.
Dr. Ji provided an update that the Economics Global Studies course was approved and will be offered for the first time in SP22.
Dr. Diamond provided an information regarding exploring a potential international-ACC partnership for ECON courses. These would take place via Zoom with roughly half the class comprised of ACC students and half the class international students with a partner institution.
Dr. Pintar provided an update that FA21 HYD sections may be capped at 24 instead of 36.
Dr. Pintar provided an update regarding the hiring of a new full-time ECON professor. The hiring committee’s top two selections have been approved in order by the Dean and VP.
Dr. Pintar provided an update regarding testing restricting FDA selections to only full-time and MSTA faculty or DC/ECHS sections for FA21. This is in light of the insignificant cost savings provided by FDA compared to purchasing directly from the publisher and the significant time complications that accompany adopting and managing FDA. Discussion ensued regarding the costs and benefits of FDA.
Dr. Pintar provided an update regarding setting up an agreement for ANTH majors to earn their bachelor’s degree at TAMU-CT.
Dr. Pintar provided an update that ANTH has been selected as one of 60 disciplines that will participate in the 2023 SACSCOC reaffirmation.
Dr. Dana clarified and promoted her role as both a faculty mentor and a coordinator of the Pandemic At Home project. Further information will be emailed to the entire department.
