Discussion: Econ DAC results were sent by email to the Econ list serve. Lizzie presented Anth DAC results. Lizzie discussed that the Anthropologists might need to consider a more congruent assessment assignment.
Action: Approved
6. Zero Cost Textbooks: Discussion & take action.
Discussion: Lizzie mentioned that Carleen Sanchez is using an Open Educational Resources/Zero Textbook Cost in her Cultural Anthropology courses that were requested and approved during a previous task force meeting. A discussion ensued as to whether instructors interested in using OER/ZTC would need to present this information to the task force for potential approval. Motion: All ZTC (in lieu of requiring textbook purchases) materials will be approved by AEG taskforce prior to use.
7. Consider making ANTH 2101 a required course for all Anthropology majors (AA & AS)
ANTH 2101 Physical Anthropology (lab) is listed in the ACGM as an approved course to offer and has been approved by task force and Curriculum and Programs committee to begin offering in Fall 2019. This one hour lab is needed for students that take ANTH 2301 and are unable to transfer that credit to Texas State, as it does not include a lab component.
Action: Motion made and approved to designate Anth 2101 a required course for all Anthropology and Archaeology majors. Approved.
8. Discuss changes to Economics AA degree to align math courses required with Field of Studies (FOS).
Discussion: The economists discussed the proposed 2018 Field of Study Curriculum for Economics BS and BA track. Both of these FOS would require potential changes to the current Math courses required in the Econ degree. Due to the complexity of the subject, and the potential need to create an AS in Econ, the discussion will continue via the Econ list serve and the decision will be presented to the task force in a future meeting. All proposed changes will need to be submitted to Curriculum and Programs Committee for approval.
