Thursday 3/26

Agenda for Day

1. Opener - 10 minutes

2. Scale Model Activity - On the Google Classroom.

Opener 3/26 (just do, no need to write in notebook)

It's really hard for us to fathom the size of the cosmos or even something smaller like our Solar System. It's surprising how much of it is just EMPTY SPACE!

Watch this video about making a "To Scale Model" of our Solar System in the desert. Then explain your ideas to the following questions to a family member at home.

1. What does it mean to make a "To Scale Model"

2. How does it feel for the Earth to be the size of a tiny blue marble?

3. What is inaccurate about the planetary motion in the video (think about modeling orbits)?

Wednesday 3/25

Agenda for Day

1. Planet Profile - work for 30-40 minutes on this project. Access Directions & Directions using the Google Classroom. Try to have it done by Friday.

Opener 3/25

Answer to some questions I've gotten:

1. If you have a moon, asteroid, or comet as your object it might be hard to get all the information. For moons, when finding the distance to Sun and length of year, just use the information for that moon's planet.

2. There are supposed to be TWO drawings. One of the object from space (what would it look like from far away as you approach) and one of what the surface or inside would look like (use your imagination).

3. If you are having trouble getting pictures in the document, try taking a picture with your computer. I would love to see ORIGINAL DRAWINGS. Not stuff you got off the Internet.

YOU CAN DO THIS!!
