Slide Show detailing project given in class Tuesday 1/21
Musical Instrument Project
How do I figure out how to do this?
You may use the Internet to research ideas. If you use another person's design please provide a link to the resource in your explanation. Also, rely on our classwork and notes to help you design and explain how the instrument works.
1. Demonstrate Instrument in class on Friday January 31st. This will be symposium style where students present to rotating groups of 2-3 students. Then students switch and audience becomes presenters. Instruments must be clearly marked with your name and period in permanent marker. Instruments will not be turned in to teacher.
2. Explanation of instrument will be turned in on the same day, Friday January 31st.
3. Project planning page will be stamped for homework on Friday January 24th.
What needs to be in my explanation?
First Paragraph:
Describe how you made the instrument. If you used a design you found from an outside resource provide the citation at the end of your paragraph.
Second Paragraph:
Describe how your instrument produces sound. This should include a description of how you alter the instrument to produce different pitches and why this results in different pitches. Students should demonstrate their understanding of the relationship between wavelength and frequency. Cite any resources used other than your science notebook.
Diagram
A detailed scientific diagram of your instrument with labels showing how it works and how sounds of varying pitch are produced. Include a drawing of at least two sounds waves emitted from your instrument and label with which would be higher pitch and which would be lower pitch. Cite any resources used
