Hi! My name is Mrs. Shin, and I am thrilled to be your [son/daughter's] teacher this year! I have been teaching for 15 years and have loved every minute of it! I have a background of teaching students with special needs, co-teaching, and foundational level science.
My mission statement is Empower. Inspire. Be.
I want my students to feel empowered to do all they have been called to do - that they have the passion, courage, and confidence to move forward! I want my students to be inspired to do things outside of their comfort zone and be brave in taking that risk! Finally, I want my students to BE all who they have been created to be - in their talents, their skills, their personality, and all their fullness.
I graduated from Gateway Seminary with a Masters degree in Intercultural Studies in December 2021! I hope to serve overseas in Japan with the International Mission Board in the future.
I graduated from California State University, Fullerton with my credentials (multiple subject, science, and special education) with a degree in Child and Adolescent Development and a minor in Natural Sciences. I continued to earn my Masters in Education with an emphasis in Special Education.
I am passionate in being a voice and advocate for those who have been silenced due to human trafficking. Human trafficking is modern-day slavery that can take the form of debt bondage, forced labor, bonded labor, child soldiers, forced marriage, and sex trafficking.
Dressember is a non-profit organization that holds an annual campaign to raise awareness and funds to combat human trafficking. Each December, men and women take the challenge to wear a dress or tie every day until the new year. I am pleased to be an advocate and to be a voice to the voiceless!
I love my family! I come from a family of five with my parents, a brother, and a sister. My brother is married and has four children (enter my adorable nieces and two nephews). My sister is married, a mommy to a feisty 4-year old and almost 1-year old! We are all extremely close and prioritize family time each week with one another.

I'm married and we will be celebrating our 4th wedding anniversary in March. We dream of moving overseas to Japan to do missions work in the future.
My husband is a chef and is currently a sushi chef for a Japanese restaurant in Glendale, CA. We love spending time at home with our sons, Logan and Nicholas, and our kitties, Eevee and Loki. His dream is to have a house full of animals and rescues.
I'm a proud mommy of two! My husband and I now have a 3-year old and 1-year old in the home! My oldest, Logan, is a silly, mischievous boy who loves Cars, trains, and construction trucks. My second, Nicholas, definitely makes his presence known. He's louder, but also more serious and observant. It has been such a blessing to be in this role - to know that we have been entrusted to raise and love our sons unconditionally.
I hope that being a mama can only help my role as a teacher!
Yokohama, Japan is a place that has special meaning and significance to me. In 2017, I was called to enter in to mission work to love the Japanese people, form relationships with the Japanese people, and to serve the Japanese people. It is a place where I hope to be in the future to do the work that I am called to.
Can't wait to see how this year will look with you as one of my students! Looking forward to a great year of learning and growing together!
