Concussion Information

Effective January 1, 2012, school districts offering athletic programs are required to immediately address suspected concussions and head injuries sustained by athletes during school-sponsored athletic activities.

The new legislation, Assembly Bill No. 25, contains the following requirements:

  1. Any athlete suspected of sustaining a concussion or head injury during an athletic activity shall be immediately removed from the activity for the remainder of the day.

  2. The athlete may not return to the activity until he or she is evaluated by a licensed health care provider trained in the management of concussions and given written clearance to return by that provider.

  3. The athlete and his or her parent or guardian must sign and return a “head injury information sheet” once each school year following a concussion or head injury, prior to beginning practice or competitions.

Parents: You can get our "head injury information sheet" from our Certified Athletic Trainer, Jack Sessions. If you suspect your child has sustained a concussion, please notify their coach and/or Jack immediately.
