Students who are failing any class may be given academic individualized prescriptions to help students raise their grades. Students who are not meeting requirements may be required to attend tutorials after school or participate in an approved AUS credit recovery program. Grade level restrictions may include requiring academic recovery during school functions such as assemblies and other school events.
To receive credit for a course, a student must pass the semester with a score of 65 or better. Each semester grade will be posted on the official transcript with the appropriate credit awarded.
The AUS credit recovery program has been established to create opportunities for currently enrolled AUS students to make up missing credits and successfully graduate on time. Students may only sign-up for credit recovery for AUS HS courses they’ve already completed and have earned a D or an F in the course or for missing courses needed for graduation at AUS. Credit Recovery is available only if the student's schedule does not permit the recovery of the course during a future semester schedule, or they are missing a needed course per AUS graduation requirements and the course can not fit into a future semester schedule, and or as deemed necessary per AUS administrative decision.
Eligibility to participate in Credit Recovery will be determined by the credit recovery committee.
More information regarding Credit Recovery can be found in the Credit Recovery Program Student and Parent Handbook
The grade of a course retaken through a non-AUS credit recovery program will not count in the calculation of the students’ GPA. The previously taken course grade will not be removed from the transcript; however, the earned credit will be awarded.
