The high School Guidance and Counseling Department provides services with an emphasis on academic advisement and planning for successful post-high school education and the world of work. Typical services provided include:
Orientation for all incoming grade 9 students and parents, as well as for all transfer students
Annual individualized conferences for each grade 9 student and his/her parents to develop a Personal Academic Growth Plan (PAGP)
Information on careers, college entrance, financial aid, and other related data
Administration and interpretation of MAP testing
Communication to parents including periodic newsletters, academic concern letters, phone contacts and updating of counseling websites
College & Career Preparation through the College Prep program that is offered to students in High School Grades 9-12 as part of our college readiness program in addition to offering AP and Honors classes that provide the rigor that college bound students need to succeed in post-secondary education.
Individual counselor assistance to further interpret or clarify topics or services provided by the Guidance Program
As time permits, group or individual counseling may be provided at student, teacher, or parent request for academic, personal or social problems.
A High School Study Plan is provided to students in grades 9-12 to allow them to succeed in each year of high school while demonstrating student responsibility and leadership of their educational goals.
