Setting Up

Setting up a VR experience requires a specific sequential process. Ensure you follow all of the steps!

Before class:

  1. Make sure all devices have been charged. If they have not been charged overnight, you may experience disruptions in the VR experience.

  2. On your teacher device (the kit comes with an Android or Chrome tablet, but you can use your personal Android phone, iPhone, or iPad) change your wifi to APS Visitor or APS District, or even a wifi hotspot.

  3. Open the Expeditions Pro app and download any tours that you want to run with your class.

  4. Revert the teacher device wifi to connect to the router.

During class:

  1. The cart or pelican case comes with a router. Plug it in so it has a few minutes to set up.

  2. Power on the teacher device and open the Expeditions Pro app. Make sure your device is connected to the router, not to the internet.

  3. Select a previously downloaded Expedition/Tour, select Class, and Lead the tour.

  4. Have students power on their devices and start the Expeditions Pro app. Student devices need to be connected to the router and not to internet wifi as well for Expeditions Pro to function.

  5. Students should select Class, then Follow, and select the Expedition code that the teacher is broadcasting.

At the end of class:

  1. Power down all devices.

  2. Use non-alcoholic sanitizing wipes to wipe down all devices and headsets before returning them to the cart or pelican suitcase.

  3. If using a cart, make sure all devices are plugged in and ready to charge.

  4. If using a pelican case, you may need to leave android devices out in a safe/secure place to charge. The headsets should be returned to the case.

Using Other Apps:

The other Android VR apps aren't guided, so students will interact with them individually and don't require the steps to guide a tour.
