What concepts will your child explore in First Grade?
Learners in first grade will represent and solve problems involving addition and subtraction, using flexible strategies with numbers through 20. They will verbally count forward and backward up to 120. They will begin to understand place value by grouping numbers by tens and ones, and use that understanding to add and subtract using multiples of ten up to 100. They will begin working with time(hour/half hour) and money(dimes/pennies), as well as explore shapes and their attributes. They will explore partitioning shapes into halves and fourths.
