Mononucleosis

MONONUCLEOSIS

Please inform Attendance and the School Nurse if your student has Mono.

We will ask you to get medical documentation of the diagnosis from your student's MD as well, including any restrictions and clearances as needed.

Please communicate with your student's counselor, Attendance, School Nurse, and your student's teachers to update on how your student is doing. We know that students recovering from mononucleosis do best when they return to school and activities gradually.

There are rarely any restrictions for students with mono in terms of academic work, though sometime fatigue and malaise can have an impact. However, we understand that your student will likely miss some class and may be temporarily behind academically. We encourage your to student to communicate regularly with teacher(s) and cc student (and me) regarding their status in each class, and any need to reschedule postponed academic requirements.

PE and Sports: Students with active mononucleosis are usually restricted from PE and sports, and will need medical clearance to resume physical activity.
