Recommendation Day
The purpose of the Recommendation Day is to allow teachers the opportunity to advise students on the next appropriate course to take within the teacher's discipline. As we are in the second nine weeks, teachers are also encouraged to use this time to remind students what they must do to pass this semester.
On recommendation day, students will get a recommendation day form from their first block teacher and will continue to take this form to all four teachers throughout the school day. Each of the student's teachers will make course recommendations on the student's form. At the end of the day on Thursday, students will completely fill out the bottom of the form to indicate which eight classes they are TENTATIVELY thinking about taking next school year.
Fall Recommendation Day is November 2. There will be a spring recommendation day next semester.
Juniors, Sophomores, and Freshmen will get their recommendation form in First Block.
Current seniors do not participate in recommendation day.
Teachers will discuss the next logical course in their discipline with their students.
Teachers will indicate the recommended course(s), any comments, and their initials on the recommendation form.
By the end of the day, students need to write eight classes they are thinking about taking next year on the bottom of their recommendation form.
Fourth Block Teachers will collect all forms and return to Guidance.
Morning VCTC students & Governor’s School will pick up forms in their third block.
Afternoon VCTC students (and EFE, WBL, etc...) will give their form to their Second Block teacher (or the front office).

I plan to do the Valley Career & Technical Center, the Governor’s School, or the Mentorship program. Do I still write down eight classes at Fort?
YES PLEASE DO! You need to fill out the recommendation day form as if you will be taking all Fort classes next year. If you complete the application for any of the three programs, your school counselor will work with you to remove Fort electives from your list of choices.
If you are a junior completing the first year of a VCTC program or the first year at Governor’s School, you do not need to write down eight classes unless you plan to stop going to VCTC or SVGS next year.
