Introduction
Inclusive education is where all children and young people are engaged and achieve through being present, participating, learning and belonging, (Ministry of Education).
These infographics show how three teachers have summarised key points that are relevant to them as educators. Your task this week is to create an infographic to summarise how an aspect of inclusive education might impact your practice. More on this below.....
Success for all has a whakatauki, Mā te huruhuru te manu ka rere, which references the feathers woven inside a whatu pōkeka or baby blanket. The metaphor is that whānau, educators and schools wrap their feathers around each individual so they can thrive.
Feathers also make up a korowai and a good activity to do with children of any age when you are establishing an inclusive classroom culture is to have all the members of the classroom construct a korowai. Suggested instructions for this activity are provided here
Universal design for Learning (UDL)
UDL is a great starting place when you are thinking about how to meet the needs of all your learners. Watch the video to learn about the 3 principles of UDL and consider the implications for your planning if you were to apply these principles.
Reflective questions:
What do I do that aligns with the principles
What might I do differently?
There are some useful resources to explore relating to UDL on the new NCEA website.
Module 3: Date for submission is on google classroom

Construct an infographic that summarises your personal learning as a teacher about your chosen learning need/area of interest . (this is not a summary of the learning need but you identifying deliberate actions you might take as a teacher to be inclusive of the learner with the learning need)
Example 1 Example 2 Example 3
What we are looking for in your infographic is what your learning means for you personally as a teacher. This could include new ways of thinking, actions you can take, questions you might ask yourself as a teacher and so on.
Using statements containing I will ....can help frame your statements
