1. Technical Module

Technical Setup

The following video helps you set up your technology to start teaching in dual delivery mode. If you prefer text-based instructions with screenshots, please view this document

Using a Digital Whiteboard

When teaching in dual delivery mode, students will not be able to see the physical whiteboard you write on with markers. Instead, we recommend you use a digital alternative, such as the Zoom whiteboard, Jamboard, or to annotate on Word or PowerPoint. To learn how to use each of these, watch the videos below. For detailed text-based instructions with screenshots, please view this document.

Using the Document Camera

If you prefer not to write on a digital screen, or you wish to share a physical object, you may also use the document camera in the room to show your object or write directly on paper. The video below shows you how to set this up.

Setup for Student Presentations

When you have students presentations, in-class students can show their presentations as you, the teacher, would. However, for remote students to be able to present to the rest of the class, you need a slightly different setup, as described in the video below:

Recording

Faculty are not obliged to record their dual delivery classes. However, if you would like to record them, you should post video in a non-downloadable format. There are two ways to share your Zoom recording; either by recording directly to Zoom cloud, or recording locally and uploading onto Google Drive.

If you upload your video to Google Drive, you need to disable downloading from the advanced Google Drive setting for the file itself (you cannot apply this setting to an entire folder). As follows:

  1. Select one or more files you want to limit.

  2. Click Share or the icon with a human face and a + sign.

  3. In the bottom right, click Advanced.

  4. Check the box next to "Disable options to download, print, and copy for commenters and viewers."

  5. Click Save changes.

  6. Click Done.

If you record on Zoom cloud, please keep the password automatically created, and adjust your settings to disallow anyone from downloading the recording. Instructions here (see screenshot below).
