"Teaching helped me develop greater patience and empathy, and showed me the importance of adapting to different learners' needs."
My name is Nathan, and I enjoy exploring a wide range of subjects, including mathematics, science, art, and technology. I am naturally curious and enjoy discovering connections between different fields of learning.
I participated in the ATWIN X-STEAM Hong Kong Program in 2025, where I received the Best Investigator Award. Mathematics has always been a part of my life, and seeing how my parents use it in their work has inspired me to explore math from many different perspectives. I enjoy asking questions, solving problems, and finding creative ways to apply what I learn.
1) What new perspectives have you gained from the program?
One of the most valuable perspectives I gained from the Math Leadership Program was learning to better understand and support others who may learn at a different pace. Teaching helped me develop greater patience and empathy, and showed me the importance of adapting my approach to meet different learners' needs.
2) What did you enjoy most from teaching your friends/family/peers?
What I enjoyed most was having the opportunity to explain mathematical concepts to others and help them understand how they work. Teaching challenged me to think more clearly and communicate my ideas in different ways.
3) Who inspired you the most throughout this program?
Honestly, everyone inspired me. Seeing the creativity, ideas, and projects that my peers developed throughout the program motivated me to keep learning and exploring new possibilities myself.
4) What was your favorite creation? Why?
My favorite creations were the projects inspired by the Fibonacci sequence. I enjoyed using patterns and variables to create repeating designs, combining mathematical concepts with creativity in a fun and engaging way.
