ENGINEERING DESIGN
Fr. Jose Moises T. Fermin, S.J. was a Jesuit priest who left a lasting physical legacy in his service to the Ateneo. Prior to heeding the call to become a Jesuit priest, Fr. Fermin was a graduate of University of the Philippines, Diliman, with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. It is perhaps this engineering background that brought much-needed vision, stability and technical expertise to his defining role as the headmaster of the Ateneo Grade School. He initiated infrastructural improvements and equipment upgrades in the school, thus modernizing the AGS and preparing its learners for 21st Century learning. He helped conceptualize a modern, multi-story building with computer laboratories and workshops; and it was christened the Fermin Hall as a posthumous tribute. By then, he was a much beloved figure in the AGS community - a reserved yet charismatic presence capable of inspiring the leaders of tomorrow.
