Because outreach/immersion activities received favorable feedback, it was concluded that these were experiences that all students could and should benefit from. So in SY 1997 – 1998, CSIP was launched as a regular program for 1st year and 2nd year students of the pre K to 12 Ateneo de Manila High School. Freshmen had the Exposure Program, while Sophomores had the Christian Service Program.

In the following SY, the Banlaw program was launched on a voluntary basis. Banlaw in English is to ‘rinse’ –which is what the program sought to do with our misconceptions about the poor. This was achieved by inviting the student to live with a family of meager resources for one whole weekend.

CSIP began as a small program in terms of the number of teachers it had, but it slowly grew through the years as the activities were enhanced.

From SY 2000-2001 onward, CSIP and all its programs were fully implemented as a part of the AHS and now AJHS as a co-curricular offering.
