Now that you've uploaded your video to YouTube, follow these steps to embed the YouTube video directly into a Canvas course to make it accessible to students:
Step 1: Navigate to Canvas and Access the Course
Log into Canvas and go to the course where you want to embed the video.
Step 2: Choose the Page or Module for Embedding
Go to Modules, Assignments, or Pages and select the area where you want the video to appear.
If creating a new page, click + Page and give it a relevant title.
Step 3: Edit the Page and Access the Rich Content Editor
Click Edit on the chosen page or module item to open the Rich Content Editor.
Step 4: Embed the YouTube Video
In a new tab, go to the YouTube video you uploaded and click Share below the video.
Select Embed and copy the embed code provided.
Return to Canvas and in the Rich Content Editor, click Embed (or the < > icon) to paste the embed code directly into the content area.
Alternatively, you can simply paste the YouTube URL, and Canvas will automatically embed the video.
Step 5: Adjust Video Placement and Save
Adjust the placement within the text if needed, adding any additional context or instructions for students.
Click Save or Save & Publish to make the page available to students.
