A Zoom meeting to further our thinking about anti-racist practices. Dr. Elizabeth Keenan of the Special School District of St. Louis County and Dr. Cheryl Funmaker of the Ho-Chunk Nation discuss their work on anti-racist practices. 

Dr. Cheryl Funmaker

Dr. Cheryl Funmaker has served in the field of American Indian education and culturally responsive teaching for over 25 years. She holds a PhD in Special Education and serves as the Disability Division Director for the Ho-Chunk Nation. She served 30 years in the nation’s education department in Head Start, Youth Services, and Language and has worked in the Twin Cities American Indian alternative schools prior to relocating to Wisconsin.


Dr. Elizabeth Keenan

Dr. Elizabeth Keenan joined St. Louis district as Special School District Superintendent in July 2019 where her focus is building equitable special education practices for districts throughout the county. Dr. Keenan began her career in education as a special education teacher. She served as a school principal before joining a school district in a suburb of Minneapolis/Saint Paul, Minnesota, as director of special services followed by director of curriculum and instruction.
