First Day of School

Ice break activities- 

For the icebreaker activities on the first day of school, we're going to be doing a getting-to-know-you activity, a classmate scavenger hunt, and a daily circle time. For the getting to know you activity the class is going to create a picture of themselves by following a rubric (linked below), this will help me get to know the students more as well as their peers get to know each other. The classmate scavenger hunt is going to help the students get social with each other and Interact (linked below). Finally, we are going to do daily circle time every day (linked below). For the first day of school, circle time is going to be essential. During circle time we are always going to begin with a brain break to get out all their energy. After that, we are going to sit on the carpet and discuss how our day went. We're going to talk about emotions, feelings, frustrations, and anything that has to do with their well-being. I will also be playing meditation music in the background so we can all calm down and get ready for specials and dismissal. 

Introduction of Class Rules and Procedures- 

We will be going over the rules and procedures of the classroom. By going over each rule one by one with simple explanations and examples. I will be using visual aids to help students understand the rules better. ( I will encourage students to share what they think each rule means. I will be using the tabs from previous pages on this website- Routines/Procedures and Rules. I will also be sharing a presentation for class rules (linked below).
