Morocco

"The more-than-human world was a partner and inspiration for current and future challenges: the sun as source of energy and plants as source of wellness. These soothing, optimistic, and holistic visions drew on the best of human nature and technology. More evocative of Afrofuturism than techno-utopianism, the proposed futures included seedstock and leaf, craft and art, flavor and rhythm, and everywhere: people and their land. The pavilion elevated these relations based on a partnership between technology, humans, and the more-than-human world across a cross-temporal warp of past, present, and future... Here the future was suspended from the ancient, a multi-faceted crossroads of communities and temporalities."

“My beloved permeates all that exists… It manifests in blacks and whites…In Christians and Jews…In letters and dots…let me just be understood…let me just be understood…”

Farid Belkahia

"In a modern art gallery several paintings including one by Moroccan artist Farid Belkahia which portrayed an upside-down Africa, spoke to the need to rectify the imbalanced and subordinate place that the African continent has held in recent centuries."
