Welcome to the Aspen Ridge's Counseling Department Website
As a counseling department we strive to provide support services in the following areas: Socio/Emotional Support, Academic Support, College and Career Guidance, and Serving as a Liaison. Some ways school counselors can assist students are:
Socio/Emotional Support
Assist in developing positive interpersonal relationship skills that involve cultural awareness and competencies.
Aid the student in developing self-awareness and a positive self-image.
Aid the student in developing resilience and coping skills.
Encourage the growth of problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Create an atmosphere where students hold themselves to high professional standards.
Academic Support
Monitor grades, assist with organization, help with time management skills, help plan middle school and high school courses with 4-6 year plans
Identify what is impacting student learning and determine a course of action to provide appropriate support.
Aid students in understanding their learning style and applying it to reach their academic potential.
Recognize the value of multiple measures when evaluating academic performance.
College and Career Guidance
Assist students with learning about college and career opportunities
Give students the opportunity to explore personal interests and abilities that guide them toward relevant career choices.
Aid students with selecting and advancing in a career path that enables them to reach their future potential.
Provide realistic and relevant experiences to support the students’ professional development within the context of the learning environment.
Serve as a Liaison
Connect students and families with outside community resources and services
Counselors are available during normal school hours when school is in session.
If there is ever an emergency, then please tell an adult and call 911 right away.
Counselors are often available before school starts, during lunch, after school, or with a pass from a teacher. Students can also send quick messages or questions to their counselor through email.

The mission of Counseling Department is to empower all students, regardless of race or economic status, to reach their full potential by providing a comprehensive school counseling program that addresses academic, social/emotional, and career growth. We believe that every student is capable of becoming an exceptional leader of their community with the help of an environment that encourages personal and emotional development, social responsibility, and academic excellence.
