Fashion Industry, Sustainability & Social Entrepreneurship
The focus for this upper school ASA is to build social entrepreneurial skills for potential future career pathways, including design thinking. Students will be encouraged to learn basic design and sewing skills but can choose the level they would like to pursue. We will start with an introduction to the fashion industry and activities to engage students in communicating sustainable values to the ASM community. Activities will include setting up a clothing swap shop and managing and coordinating events at the school to increase awareness of more sustainable consumer practices.
Students will be encouraged to work with their peers to research projects and practice the skills they need to create a sustainable fashion business. The facilitators will be there to guide the students through learning these skills and providing support for the creative process. This ASA will be a creative outlet, and the students will have the freedom to pursue their ideas within the fashion industry in terms of product development, marketing, logistics, etc.
