Course Description
This is an introductory course to conceptual design and application in some areas of theatre technology including scenic design, lighting design, sound design, and fabrication. We will explore how a designer draws from the metaphors and themes of a play to support the subtext of the story, or building and how color and shape can support the main ideas in a performance piece. This course is for students who want to explore theatre from the design/technical aspect.
Course Objectives
To explore different pursuits of theatrical design including lights, scenerey, props, and sound
To develop an understanding of how visual components can support text
To integrate modern technology such as projections and live feeds into live performance
To learn the basics of drafting and scale
To assist with the installation and fabrication of some ASFG production components
To find ways to solve creative problems that have no definitive answer.
To cultivate peace & joy through creation & fabrication

Clear plastic from a box of greens, a clear smooth soda bottle, a CD case, etc.
thin cardboard from cereal boxes/etc.

pliers
brass wire
any wire that can be shaped with pliers
