Greetings! Welcome to my page. Here are some facts about me.
Observing the sky since 1968. I used my Grandpa Walter's refractor, which once served on a Navy ship.
Using a 6 inch f8 Edmunds Scientific Newtonian, I earned the Astronomical League Messier award in 1989. It took me three years to accomplish this, as traveling to skies darker than Florissant, MO was needed.
My husband Ed is the greatest!
We currently have a number of telescopes, mounts, tripods, accessories, and imaging gear in our house. Pictures above show a 10 inch Dobsonian we built with a Coulter mirror,.The 4 inch f12 Dobsonian was built with a mirror ground by me, with help from John Dobson himself. Good times.
I love astronomy outreach. Before Covid and other health-related issues, I was a regular telescope slinger at the Broemmelsiek Park Friday Night Open House events. I also liked participating in Library Programs, School Science Days, Scout Badge work sessions, and special outreach like International Sun Day. Once the virus is gone, I will get back to outreach activities.
