This curriculum has eight reading comprehension worksheets. These worksheets each include a reading passage about sexist language and its impacts, ranging from one paragraph to an entire essay, and comprehension questions. Questions ask students to make inferences, back up claims with evidence from the passage, improve certain sections, identify parts of writing, and more. There are between five and ten questions for each worksheet. These worksheets focus on improving students’ deep reading skills.
These worksheets can serve several purposes. The four designed for elementary students allow students practice their reading and writing, encourage them to think critically, and provide nonfiction for them to become familiar with. The four for middle school students provide practice for standardized tests and allow students to explore their passions and connections to the real world. Finally, the two for high school can serve as practice for the PSAT and SAT reading and writing sections, as well as help students develop their own writing and rhetoric skills.
