I use two platforms to inform parents of their child's progress in my classroom:
CANVAS- Canvas is used to interact with your child directly. I keep track of completed work, assign things, and inform your child of upcoming events here. If you want to know if your child is keeping up in class, please look at your child's Canvas account by becoming a Parent Observer. There are no grades in Canvas; it is a checklist of what has been turned in, including things from home, such as signed permission slips. To become a Parent Observer, follow the steps outlined HERE. You can also ask me for help by emailing me.
Q Parent Connection- After sufficient time has been given to complete a particular assignment and the work has been graded, I post grades on Q. These grades ultimately become a part of your child's final grade for each class on the quarterly report card. It is a parent's responsibility to check their child's grades regularly. I allow work to be made up for partial credit as late as the day before report cards are generated, but it is a parent's responsibility to be aware if work is missing. I also allow classwork to be redone for a higher grade when requested, and if there is time for the assignment to be redone and graded before report cards are posted.
Your close supervision and insistence that school is a priority in your child's life will pay off in the long run.Â
