Mrs. Spain’s Behavior Plan
Incentive Plan
In my classroom, a positive approach to classroom management is employed in an effort to deter problem behaviors and/or reinforce appropriate behavior.
Class Dojo- The class earns and loses points for behavior and work completion. When point milestones are reached, a small prize is given such as a special snack, choice seating, game time, and for the largest amount of points, a class movie. Parents can monitor points through the Class Dojo App, as well as see class pictures, and send/receive messages to/ from the teacher.
Eagle Points- Students are awarded points for attending school, completing work, maintaining a classroom job, and modeling safe, responsible, and respectful behavior. Likewise, points can be lost for late or missing assignments, being tardy or having an unexcused absence, or engaging in any behavior considered unsafe, not responsible, or disrespectful. Points can be used to "buy" items at an auction held at the end of each semester, or for other privileges throughout the school year. If you have any items you wish to donate to my auctions, please let me know!
Progressive Behavior Plan
For any behavior that is considered unsafe, disrespectful, disruptive, or repetitive despite teacher efforts to deter/change the behavior through the aforementioned incentive plan, the following steps will be taken:
1) Warning 1- Private conversation between teacher and student; parent/guardian is notified via email.
2) Warning 2- Written “Classroom Referral Form”. Teacher fills out the form, sends it home for a parent/guardian signature. Parent/guardian notified via email.
3) Warning 3- Written “Classroom Referral Form”. Teacher fills out the form, sends it home for a parent/guardian signature, and requests a face to face meeting with parent/guardian and student via email. Other staff may be invited to this meeting to problem solve (counselor, principal)
4) Office Intervention- Teacher fills out an “Office Referral Form”. Teacher notifies parent/guardian via email. Principal assigns appropriate consequence and will contact parent/guardian.
* Please note- Extremely unsafe and/or aggressive behaviors may warrant skipping to “Step 4: Office Intervention” immediately.
