Concert Dress Code: "Concert Black"

All black clothing. Black shoes, socks, pants or dress, shirt and/or jacket. 

First Two Weeks of School. This will be a time for students to select their instrument. The choices for orchestra class are violin, viola, cello, or bass. I will demonstrate these instruments for them, and we will begin to learn to read music notation.

Orchestra and Band Parent Night - August 20th at 6PM at the West High Auditorium. This free concert is put on by all the music teachers in Anchorage. We will demonstrate the instruments for the families and talk about the music program. The local music stores will set up booths and you can shop for the best deals to rent or purchase an instrument. 

First Day with instruments!!!!!! September 2  Very exciting! Most of the students will have their instruments, and we will start to play them in class. 

WINTER CONCERT  December 17th, 7-8PM at the Mears MPR. This concert will feature classical and Holiday music. Wear concert black. You can add holiday ties, scarves, reindeer antlers, etc. 

6th Grade Honor Orchestra Auditions Dec 3rd, 4th, or 5th.  Audition to join the best players from each school in the Anchorage School District. 6:00 - 8:00 PM  December 3rd and 5th at Romig-----Dec. 4th at Begich Middle School.

Solo and Ensemble Festival Friday Feb. 7 at First Presbyterian Church during the school day.  Students have the opportunity to perform solos, duets, and trios for judges at this music festival! We will ride a bus there and back.

Dimond Extravaganza  Feb. 22 at Dimond High School (Saturday Morning).  We will play a joint concert with the Amazing Dimond High Orchestra!

Spring Concert May 14, 7PM The Advanced and Intermediate orchestra show off all they learned this year.
