It has been a BUSY start to the school year! Here are some pictures we have snapped here and there, with some captions for context!! We hope to post more pictures as the year goes on! And not wait so long to post next time!
This first set of pictures is from the very first day of school. Students were given supplies (20 spaghetti noodles, some tape, some string, and a large marshmallow) and had to work together to create the tallest structure they could come up with. They had so much fun, and it was awesome to see them working together!
This next group of pictures is from our Puzzle Piece Project in August. Students created a puzzle piece all about themselves, and presented it to the whole class!
Working hard in small groups in 4th block. This group was working on a word search related to the cooking activity they would do the next day: making Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwiches!
In ELA we spent a couple of weeks talking about Author's Purpose, and determining if the author of a passage was trying to persuade, inform, or entertain us. Students got to eat some candy corn and then they had to write 1 sentence to persuade readers about the candy corn, 1 sentence to inform, an 1 sentence to entertain. They did so well!
We are trying to do more group work this year to encourage communication and collaboration! These ladies are telling each other their plan for the Realistic Fiction story they will be writing over the next couple of weeks! It's important that they have a plan before they start writing so they know where the story is going.
These young men are working hard at Voc Rehab putting together Christmas Tree stands!
