We've been working hard all year to earn paychecks, pay our bills, and still have enough money left over to purchase a movie ticket and some concessions to earn FUN FINAL FRIDAY! Of course, a hurricane decided to come on the day of the long awaited event...but it's ok! We have moved our Fun Final Friday movie to Monday, October 3!
We did, however, get our paychecks early on Thursday, paid our bills (including expensive rent due on the last Friday of the month), and pre-ordered our movie tickets and consessions. Ask your child if they can tell you the steps! Here are some pictures!
First, students get their paycheck and cut it out, since we aren't fancy enough for perforated checks!
Next, students sign the back of their paycheck.
Then they fill out a deposit slip before heading to the bank.
Filling out a depisit slip inclues writing their name, deposit amount, and signing the bottom.
Next step: Take your signed check and deposit slip to the bank. (The teller will send you home to fix it if you forget!) Make sure you greet the teller and use appropriate language to tell her what you're at the bank to do.
After the teller gives you your receipt showing your available balance, you have to go back to your computer and pay your bills online. The form looks like this.
After bills are paid, you must determine how much money you have left in your account this week.
Since it's Fun Final Friday week, after the available balance was determined, students went to pre-order their movie ticket and consessions for Fun Final Friday. The cashier did the math, but students had to use appropriate social skills in answering questions when making their order!
