We made apple dumplings in 1st and 2nd block! Students learned to read and follow a recipe, how to make a grocery list by looking at a recipe, and how to try new foods (for some of us)! Students loved getting to try out the apple slicer--it was a new kitchen tool for most of us!
First, we had to slice our apples.
Next, we had to think about where we would find crescent rolls.
And how to open the package.
After we unrolled the crescent rolls and split them into triangles we rolled 1 apple up in each crecent.
...and then added them to our baking dish!
The next step was to mix together brown sugar, cinnamon, and melted butter.
And then pour that mixture all over the dumplings!
The last step before the oven was to pour a can of lemon lime soda over everything!
We had to read the recipe the entire time to know which order to complete the steps!
After 35-40 minutes at 350, they came out looking delicious!
Jacob helped serve the dumplings onto plates.
And then we got to EAT!!
