Arlington Public Schools (APS) offers robust Work-Based Learning (WBL) experiences as part of our Career & Technical Education (CTE) programs. These opportunities connect what students learn in the classroom with the skills and expectations of the real world. Through strong partnerships with local businesses, industries, and community organizations, students engage in meaningful experiences that support career exploration, skill development, and personal growth.
APS students participate in a variety of WBL formats, including internships, job shadows, workplace tours, and guest speaker events. Some students work off-site in paid or unpaid positions aligned to their career interests. In contrast, others benefit from industry professionals coming into their classrooms to provide mentorship, training, and insight into their fields. These experiences help students apply what they’re learning, build professional networks, and gain confidence in their future career paths.
