At Strathburn Primary and ELC we use Learning Journals for communication with parents/carers and to share learning.  This gives parents and carers an immediate and personalised window into their child’s day, helping to answer, “What did you do at school/nursery today?”.  It is a platform that allows schools and children to engage with parents and carers to create an online environment which

Children can share learning using photos, videos, drawings, text or links.  Learning Journals helps to capture the learning process and children can use the build in audio recording tool to reflect on what they have learning or explain how they got their answer.   At Strathburn Primary we will not use photos of pupils when sharing work online, all photographic and video examples will be of pupil work only.

As a parent/carer you can collect pupil work from almost any device – Learning Journals exists as an app on tables and phones, as well as on a desktop computer.  Overtime Learning Journals builds up an individual, digital portfolio of each child’s learning which is shared with parents/carers via an app or on the web.

Consent to use Learning Journals is given after your read and responded to the Learning Journals Privacy notice during enrolment to allow for your child/ren to be linked to Learning Journals.

Once consent is obtained your child will be allocated to a class learning journals account and given an avatar name linked to this account.

For parents/carers to gain access to Learning Journals you will need to download the app or go to website and create an account as a parent/carer.

If you have any further questions regarding Learning Journals, then information can be found on the website or please contact the School.
