1. Understand Command Words
Pay close attention to words like describe, explain, compare. Each requires a different level of detail. Support documents can be found on your class team. Try this quiz to see how confident you are: https://wordwall.net/resource/3936138/business-sqa-command-words
2. Use Retrieval Practice (and Review Forgotten Topics)
Retrieval practice means actively recalling information rather than just re-reading notes. It’s one of the most effective ways to strengthen memory and identify gaps. Here’s what it could look like:
Past Paper Questions: Answer without notes, then check your accuracy. (Access past paper questions from the class team/Achieve/SQA).
Flashcards: Write key terms on one side, definitions on the other. (Flashcards can be completed using websites or on paper – if you need flashcards see Mr Thomson Rm211).
Brain Dumps: Write everything you know about a topic in 5 minutes—this helps spot areas you haven’t reviewed in a while. (The revision placemats are a great way to structure this task also, these can be found on your class team for BM)
Teach Someone Else: Explaining concepts out loud helps cement knowledge.

3. Start Early
Don’t wait until the last minute. Spread your revision over weeks, not days. Short, regular sessions are far more effective than cramming! Supported study takes place in Room 211 each Monday after school and the faculty is always open as a space to revise and access IT/resources over lunchtimes.
