Pupil Participation Groups
Article 12 Children have the right to give their opinions freely on issues that affect them. Adults should listen and take children seriously.
Article 13 Children have the right to share freely with others what they learn, think and feel, by talking, drawing, writing or in any other way unless it harms other people.
Article 15 Children can join or set up groups or organisations, and they can meet with others, as long as this does not harm other people.
Article 29Children’s education should help them fully develop their personalities, talents and abilities. It should teach them to understand their own rights, and to respect other people’s rights, cultures and differences. It should help them to live peacefully and protect the environment.
Each child in the school has had the opportunity to lead in one of the groups, having trialled the PPG for two terms we evaluated how these were working and decided to narrow the 19 groups down to 6.

The PPG meet on a Friday afternoon from 2.30pm-3pm, during this time the children lead the group and decide on focus areas of work for the school. Each group will report back to the school during assembly and will keep a blog to share the work with parents and the local community. The staff and pupils were asked to vote for their top three choices of groups this information was then used to allocate them to a group.

Article 29 – Education must develop every child’s personality, talents and abilities to the full.

Article 31 – Every child has the right to relax and play.
