Shaylyn Ordaz has been teaching in Alum Rock Union School District since the Fall of 2015. She currently teaches four different levels of concert band between Joseph George Middle School, Horace Cureton Elementary School, and Lyndale Elementary School. She has also taught Drumline, Guitar, and World Music classes in Alum Rock.

Ms. Ordaz holds a Bachelor of the Arts in Music degree and a Single Subject Teaching Credential in Music from California State University East Bay. She regularly performs with the East Bay Symphonic Band, a community ensemble based in Hayward, and teaches one-on-one music lessons through Mozart, Einstein & Me in Livermore.

She began her musical journey in fourth grade as a flute player. In middle school, she taught herself piano basics, and learned guitar and alto saxophone in high school. As she took music education courses in college, she also worked in after school band programs in Livermore and Fremont.

When not teaching and performing, Ms. Ordaz enjoys playing video games, drawing and painting, and spending time with her cats. She loves to travel near and far, and is often planning her next trip.
