Reading & Writing:
Writing is a key component in almost every lesson in StudySync, whether it through formative writing practice like the Think Questions in the First Read or the Writing Prompt in the Close Read. Students build their writing capacity through shorter lessons in order to write a longer form essay in the Extended Writing Project (EWP). The EWP is part of every single unit and focuses on a different genre of writing for each unit. The EWP takes teachers and students through every single step of the writing process and includes a student example for students to analyze before they begin writing. All of the lessons also include digital scaffolds to aid students in their writing. Examples of scaffolds to help a student write are Sentence Frames, Fill-in-the blank passages, prompts that guide students through what the question is asking, and graphic organizers. These can be assigned through the User Tab by assigning Proficiency Levels to students. These scaffolds can also be printed and can be found with each lesson and are called Access Handouts. I've included an example with this email. I also recommend going to the Library Tab and selecting Skills to look for specific Writing Skills Spotlight Skills. Finally, teachers can turn Blast assignments into longer form writing assignments.
