Let's Make It!

In this section, we're going to create our musical mandala using the ideas of pattern, repetition and rhythm. You're going to create a mandala that can be played using the 12-bar blues. You will specify which visual elements correspond to each chord and when complete, you'll play the piece while the class views your Mandala.

PROJECT STEPS

1. Create your pattern. Create a new 12-bar blues pattern in AAB form using specific chords, just like you did earlier in this unit.

2. Assign a visual element to each bar. Choose a color, shape, or line to reflect each specific bar in your mandala.

3. Create your mandala structure using the same steps we used in the lesson.

4. Fill in your mandala using the assigned visual elements from the 12-bar blues pattern.

5. Practice playing your 12-bar blue progression and ensure that your mandala reflects the pattern being played.
