＜音楽と言葉＞

沼沢淑音ピアノリサイタルによせて

＜DS 言葉に出来ない憂い＞青年は旅を始める。陽光が降り注ぐイタリアから東方へと。イタリアは隅々まで陽の光が満ちる世界だったかというと、そうではない。１４世紀の黒死病は私たちが知っているように、欧州の三分の一の命を奪う。黒死病はその後も幾度となくぶり返す。人間を脅かしたのは感染症だけではない。人類史のほとんどの時間が病を治癒出来ない時代だった。さらには繰り返される殺戮・戦禍。家族、友人、兄弟、恋人が短い人生を終えた。生き延びた人は死と隣り合わせに生きていた。

＜RS 言葉が誘う森の奥＞青年は黒い”森の入口”近くに佇む。森は奥深い。すぐに気配でわかる。”寂しい花”の近くに”待ち伏せる狩人”がいるのだ。”気味の悪い場所”を通り過ぎて”なつかしい風景”に出くわす。”宿屋”の窓からは”予言の鳥”の呟きが聞こえる。唐突に “狩の歌”が響き渡り森との”別れ”が来る。

＜W-L イゾルデの言葉＞不気味な森から飛び出した青年が出会うのはイゾルデ。まるで道に迷っているような風情である。悲しみを湛えたイゾルデの表情から青年はトリスタンがすでに亡くなっていることを知る。イゾルデは溢れる言葉で青年に語りかける。彼女がどれほどトリスタンを愛していたのか、彼女がどれほど、、、。豊穣な言葉は時に青年の心を動かすが時には彼の心を虚にもした。自分が見たものは空蝉のイゾルデだったのか否か、青年は混乱する。

＜ FC 音という言葉＞遠くからかすかに聞こえてくる音に惹かれて歩みを進めると、青年が出会ったのは年老いた吟遊詩人である。詩人は何も語らず、ただ竪琴をかき鳴らすだけなのだが、青年の耳には確かな言葉が聞こえてくる。言葉は途切れ途切れに始まり、やがて朗々と吟じられる。驚く青年に視線を送ることなく老人は素早くしかし野太い声でコーダを語る。確かに言葉だった。

＜AL 砂糖菓子の待ち伏せ＞さらに東へ歩いていくと周囲はいつの間にか冬景色。雪がちらついている。喩えようのないくらい甘い香りが唐突に青年を襲う。青年は雪の形をした砂糖菓子が天から降ってきたのかと錯覚した。肩に積もった雪を口に含んで見たが、ほのかに甘いではないか。砂糖菓子の誘惑に駆られて青年は旅を続ける。

＜NM 無言歌という物語＞言葉が連なり物語が生まれる。自然に口をついて出る言葉ではない。物語を生むために言葉があちこちからかき集められる。寒村で青年は物語を背負った女に出会う。青年をじっと見つめ女は悲しい、と言う。私を慰めて欲しい、と哀願する。青年が戸惑っていると女は語るのをやめて歌い始めた。哀歌。忘れかけた記憶を辿るように歌うので、聞いている青年も自分の記憶なのか女の記憶なのか区別がつかなくなる。古い物語が言葉もなく語りかけている。

＜AS 音の戯れに駆逐される言葉＞さらに音が自在に動き始めると、人間の記憶や言語的思考に頼らずに音が自分たち物語を紡ぎ始める。音と音の関係は物語の細部を描出するに十分な密度を持ち、音の跳躍は物語の登場人物の魂の飛翔を表すほど素早く駆け上がる。音があまりにも細密に充填された空間には言葉の入り込む余地はない。青年はというと、言葉を排斥した音世界に深く魅了され、天使か悪魔かわからない存在が自分を軽々と抱き抱えていることに気がつく。頬を滑る空気の動きからおそらく天界に向かっているのだろうと想像するが、逆に地の奈落に落ちていく気配も感じないことはない。しかし、どちらでも同じことだ、と青年は呟く。

＜音の言い残したこと＞ A.スクリャービンは４番ソナタを作曲した後に短い詩を残している。それは次のように始まり終わる。

淡い霧の中、透明な水蒸気　遠くを見失いながらも、はっきりと星がやわらかく輝いている

なんて美しいのでしょう青みがかった神秘的なその輝きは　私を誘い、揺り動かす

汝、拡大せよ、星よ！今、汝は太陽となる華やかな太陽! 勝利の太陽!

汝への欲望によって汝に近づき変化する波の中に身をゆだねる。お、歓喜の神よ

我は汝を飲み込む　光の海

私の光の自己　汝を呑み込む！

＜Music and Words＞

＜DS: A melancholy unshapable with words＞ A young man begins a journey, from sunny Italy to the east. The Black Death of the 14th century, as we know it, claimed the lives of a third of Europe. The Black Death came back again and again. It is not only infectious diseases that have threatened humans. Most of human history was a time when diseases could not be cured unlike our modern days. In addition, there have been repeated killings and wars by both humans. Families, friends, siblings, and lovers ended their short lives. Those who survived lived side by side with death, and sorrow.

＜RS: The deep forest entices you with words＞ The young man stands at the “Entry” point of the black forest. The forest is deep and he already knows it. There are "Hunters on the lookout" near the "Lonely Flowers". He passes through a "Haunted Place" and comes upon a "Friendly Landscape". From the window of the "Wayside Inn", he hears the murmur of the "Bird as Prophet". Suddenly, the "Hunting Song" echoes, and he bids “Farewell" to the forest.

＜W-L: Isolde's words＞ The young man rushes out of an eerie forest and meets Isolde. She looks as if she has lost her way. The young man learns from Isolde's sorrowful expression that Tristan is already dead. Isolde speaks to him with overflowing words, telling how much she loved Tristan, and how much she.... . The young man is confused if he really saw Isolde or not.

＜ FC: Music as words ＞ As he walks forward, attracted by a faint sound coming from far away, he meets an old bard. The bard does not speak, only strums his lyre, but the young man hears his words certainly. The words start out choppy, and then they are recited out loud. Without looking into the young man’s astonished eyes, the old bard says the coda in a quick but thick voice. It was indeed a word.

＜AL: A sugar candy ambush＞ As he walked eastward further, he noticed that he was a winter field. He sees the snow flickering. An inexplicably sweet scent suddenly hit the young man from behind. The young man thought it was sugar candy in the shape of snow falling from the sky. He took a mouthful of the snow on his shoulder and found that it was faintly sweet. Driven by the temptation of the sugar candy, the young man continues his journey.

＜NM: A story called “Song without words”＞ A story is born from a series of words in an order. It is not words that come out of the mouth naturally. In order to create a story, words have to be gathered from all over the place. In a cold village, the young man meets a woman who carries a story on her back. She stares at the young man and says, "I am sad". She begs him to comfort her. Seeing the young man being puzzled, the woman stops talking and starts singing. An elegy. She sings as if she is tracing back a memory that she barely remembers, and the young man became unable to distinguish whether it is his memory or the woman's memory. An old story sings to him without words.

＜AS: Sound play kicks out words in music＞ As sound begins to move more freely, it begins to weave its own story without relying on human memory or linguistic thought. The relationship between sounds is dense enough to depict the details of the story. The leaps of sound are quick enough to represent the flight of the soul of the characters in the story. There is no room for words in a space so densely packed with sound. The young man is so deeply fascinated by the world of sound that excludes words, that he finds himself being held hard from behind by an entity that could be an angel or a devil. From the movement of the air sliding down his cheeks, he imagined that he was probably heading for the heavens, but he couldn't help but feel that he was falling into the abyss of the earth. But either way, it's the same thing, the young man muttered.

＜What the sound left out＞ Alexander Scriabin wrote a short poem after composing his 4th sonata. It begins and ends as follows.

In a light mist, transparent vapor

Lost afar and yet distinct

A star gleams softly.

How beautiful! The bluish mystery

Of her glow

Beckons me, cradles me.

Thou expandest, Star!

Now thou art a Sun

Flamboyant Sun! Sun of Triumph!

Approaching thee by my desire for thee

I lave myself in they changing waves

O joyous god.

I swallow thee

Sea of light.

My self-of-light

I engulf thee!

沼沢淑音ピアノ

桐朋女子高等学校音楽科ピアノ科を首席で卒業、

桐朋学園大学ソリスト・ディプロマを経て公益財団法人ロームミュージックファンデーションの奨学生としてエリソ・ヴィルサラーゼ氏のもと2015年にモスクワ音楽院を卒業。

世界的ピアニストのマルタ・アルゲリッチ氏からは「素晴らしい輝かしいピアニストで私は彼の特別な繊細な感受性と音楽への献身に心動かされました」と絶賛。世界的ピアニストのパーヴェル・ネルセシアン氏からも「音楽に普遍的なアプローチをする事ができる個性的で創造的なアーティスト」と称賛される。

ケルン国際音楽コンクール三位入賞、シュニトケ国際コンクール優勝、ポリーニも過去に優勝した歴史あるポッツォーリ国際ピアノコンクールで優勝。また浜松国際ピアノコンクールにて「ネルセシアン賞」「（公財）アルゲリッチ芸術振興財団賞」を受賞しアルゲリッチ氏より別府アルゲリッチ音楽祭に招待され演奏する。

外山雄三、沼尻竜典、ミヒャエル・ザンデルリング、山田和樹指揮、仙台フィルハーモニー管弦楽団、アンサンブル金沢、日本フィルハーモニー交響楽団、神奈川フィルハーモニー管弦楽団、ケルン放送管弦楽団等と共演。

ラ・フォル・ジュルネ音楽祭等、日本国内各地はじめ欧州の音楽祭に出演。

２０１７年４月より桐朋学園非常勤講師。

Yoshito Numasawa, Piano

Born in Japan, he studied under Eliso Vilsaladze at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, enrolled in her class in 2009, and completed his postgraduate studies under her guidance in 2015. Prior to that, he studied piano at the Toho Gakuen School of Music High School in Tokyo, Japan, where he received his highest Artist Diploma in the class of Yasushi Hirose. He has also studied with Ayako Sugiyasu, Masako Tsujii, Tatsuo Sato, Vladimir Takeuchi, Minoru Nojima, and Mikhail Kandinsky.

Yoshito Numasawa was praised by Martha Argerich as "a wonderful and brilliant pianist with a special sensitivity and dedication to music, I was very impressed" and by Pavel Nersessian as "a unique and creative artist who can give a universal approach to music", and in 2016 he won the Hamamatsu Piano Competition, where he was awarded the Martha Argerich Prize and the Pavel Nersessian Prize, and appeared before an international audience. Numasawa was awarded third prize at the 5th Tchaikovsky International Competition for Young Musicians in Moscow, third prize at the Monopoli International Competition (Italy, 2009), first prize at the Alfred Schnittke International Piano Competition (Germany, 2013), and third prize at the Cologne International Music Competition (2014). In 2015 he was awarded the first prize at the Ettore Pozzuoli International Piano Competition in Seregno.

His performance activity is quite international as exemplified by Music Society Villa Tesoriera in Turin, Fazioli Concert Hall in Sacile, Italy, and other halls and orchestras in Russia, Europe, and Japan. In Japan, he has performed at Kioi Hall, Oji Hall and Tsuda Hall in Tokyo, Phoenix Hall in Osaka, and was invited by Martha Argerich to perform at the Beppu Music Festival. His performance was broadcasted on NHK FM, and her CD was released in Japan by Florestan in 2010, which received rave reviews from Japanese music magazines In 2012, he was awarded an honorary scholarship from the Rohm Music Foundation. He is currently pursuing a career as a lecturer at Toho Gakuen School of Music.
