ARS Pledge Drive- Let's soar together to reach our campaign goal of $30,000 by Giving Tuesday on December 3rd!
We’re heading towards a remarkable school year! ARS has exceeded growth and our growth is ranked in the top 5 out of all charter schools in North Carolina! Our ARS campus has grown over the past two years. The addition of our gym( located on Tradd St.), intermediate school (located on Cooper St.) and our most recent Arts and Stem building (located on East Broad St.) wouldn’t be possible without support from ARS families and businesses. We are ecstatic to announce the launch of our 2024-2025 capital campaign, RAISE!.
Our 2024 Capital Campaign is a pivotal initiative that will provide necessary funds to allocate towards facility improvements, maintenance and future expansion. As a charter school, we receive funding from the North Carolina Department of Instruction but funding is just enough for salaries, benefits, utilities and general building maintenance. Capital Campaign funds are crucial to ensure that our facilities match the high standard of education we provide, offering our students an environment conducive to learning and growth.
ARS Families, we need your support. Here is the link to donate to our RAISE campaign. No donation is too large or too small. Your support helps us create an environment where every child can thrive and reach their fullest potential. Many businesses match employee donations to schools. Please consider sharing with your place of employment if they have a corporate matching program.
Thank you for your continued support.
Safe Schools Week October 21-25
October is safety month. We will be practicing our tornado, fire, bomb threat, security alert and lockdown drills this week. Parents please talk with your child and ensure them that these are just practice drills. It is important for students to know what to do in any emergency at school if one should arise. We are fortunate to be a downtown school, where we have support from the Statesville Police Department, Sherrifs Department and Fire Department all within one block of the school to ensure our school is safe at all times.
Monday- Security Alert
Tuesday- Tornado
Wednesday- Fire Drill
Thursday- Bomb Threat
Friday- Lockdown

PINK OUT DAY is Wednesday, October 30th! Wear as much pink as you can! Students may wear pink shirts, pants, shoes, socks, headbands, hats, etc… Students may not paint their face or wear a face mask.
Our K-3 Book Character Costume Parade will take place at 9:30am on October 31, 2024. It is a half day on Thursday and no school Friday!
Students will parade in their costumes through downtown.
Students may wear costumes to school that day and are encouraged to choose costumes that reflect a favorite book character. No violent costumes, face paint, or masks are allowed.
Parents are invited to watch our parade from the sidewalk. We will begin with Kinder. We recommend that you arrive early and watch from the first block on East Broad Street or Center Street so that you do not miss any of the students.
Some of the younger classes may use a shorter route by taking East Broad to turn left onto Center and walking straight down to the middle school if needed.
WALKING ROUTE:
K-3 Students will leave from the front door of the Donovan Cook Center on East Broad Street and take a left. At the corner of East Broad Street, we will turn left onto Center St. and use the crosswalk close in front of Andrea's Ice cream to cross over. (We are going to use these crosswalks with NO stoplight. Staff members will be in the crosswalks with stop signs to stop traffic.)
We will turn right on Center Street, go back down to the corner at East Broad and take a left to walk straight down East Broad to the Upper Room. Here, we will turn left onto Meeting St and go down one block to the corner at the Children's Museum.
From the museum, the parade will turn left and walk straight up Court Street, using the same crosswalk to cross back over Center Street. We will turn right to walk down past our middle school. Past our middle school we will turn left on Front str, our students will walk up Cooper Street and return to ARS. We are looking forward to this fun ARS tradition!
Congratulations to our Red Ticket Winners! 10/25/24
