"Wherever you stand be the soul of that place" - Rumi
BIO: Hi! I'm Mr. Smith and I teach band and orchestra music at Crocker Farm, Fort River, Pelham, and Wildwood in Amherst. I'm a guitar player by trade but have been teaching band and orchestra in the Boston and Springfield areas for 14 years.
I earned my undergraduate degree in jazz composition from Berklee College of Music and my masters from Mount Holyoke College where I am also an adjunct faculty. In addition to band and orchestra, I've also taught music production, salsa, bomba, merengue, and drumline.
I believe creativity is foundational to a health society. For children to become our future leaders, they will need strong imaginations to make the world into a better place.
