In this unit students will practice and identify each step of the scientific method. Students learn how to ask a question, make a hypothesis, plan and carry out an experiment, observe and record data, draw conclusions, and share results with others. Students practice recording data using virtual labs and interpreting experimental conclusions and explain their observations based on provided data. Students will be acquainted with common terminology used during labs and scientific research.

  • learn why it’s so important to follow lab safety rules (A1)

  • identify and describe careers related to the fields of science under study, and describe the contributions of scientists, including Canadians, to those fields. (A2)
