Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) - No Cost Service Announcement
Starting July 1, 2026 all CAPS counseling services will be available at no cost to main campus students. Assistance funding is available to help offset the cost to access services before the July 1st launch date. Note: Psychiatry, the ADHD Clinic, and IOP will continue to have a cost after July 1st.
The CAPS website will be updated during the summer to reflect these changes.

A panel of U of A physics and astronomy alumni who are now in graduate school will share the realities of graduate school and why they chose to pursue a master’s or PhD. This can help you decide if graduate school is right for you and if so, how to increase your chance of acceptance to the school of your choice.
Overview of Graduate School Application Process

Get specific guidance from faculty members involved in the grad review process at U of A about what’s involved in applying for graduate school and how to set yourself up to be competitive. We will include information about opportunities both in the U.S. and abroad, with templates to prepare your materials.
International Scholars Forum
October 21st (location TBD)
International students face unique challenges studying in the U.S. and there have been recent policy changes that could make it even more difficult. This forum will allow international undergrad students majoring in physics and astronomy to network, share resources, and get support from international grad students. This is a great opportunity to discuss graduate school plans with students currently pursuing a PhD.

Get your materials- personal/research statements- for grad school edited and reviewed by faculty and get personalized advice on which schools might be a good fit for you. Students must sign up for workshops in advance and that link will be available October 7th.
