The Department of Neuroscience is excited to invite applications for two prestigious Summer Research Scholarship opportunities, each providing $5,000 in funding to support full-time undergraduate laboratory research during Summer 2026.
This is your chance to gain immersive research experience, work closely with faculty mentors, and take a meaningful step toward graduate school or a research-focused career.
Available Scholarships
John G. Hildebrand Summer Research Scholarship
Open to undergraduate students interested in summer neuroscience research
Preference given to students working with Department of Neuroscience faculty and those planning to attend graduate school
2 awards available, each valued at $5,000
Requires a 12-week, full-time summer research commitment
NSCS Summer Research Scholarship
Open exclusively to students in the NSCS Major
Designed to support laboratory-based research during Summer 2026
6 awards available, each valued at $5,000
Requires a 12-week, full-time summer research commitment
Eligibility
Applicants must:
Be actively enrolled in the NSCS or NSCI (only for Hildebrand) programs, or a closely related major
Be in good academic standing
Previous award recipients are welcome to apply again (reapplication required)
Application Details
There is one combined application for both scholarships, consisting of:
A one-page summary of the proposed research, endorsed by your faculty supervisor
A 2–3 page essay describing:
How you will use the award to engage in Neuroscience research and or Neuroscience and Cognitive Science research (NSCS Summer Research Scholarship)
Why this experience will be important to your education
A letter of support from your faculty supervisor
