I know I lot of you like to use "Rate my Professor" and while that is not inherently bad, I do want to encourage caution when using that resource. I use the following analogy to illustrate my point:
If you go to a restaurant and have an amazing experience - everything was cooked perfectly, brought to the table on time, the waitress/waiter was attentive, etc. - are you going to write a positive review about your experience? Perhaps, right?
If you go to a restaurant and have an okay experience - nothing spectacular, but nothing bad - are you going to write a positive review? Probably not, right?
If you go to a restaurant and have a terrible experience - the food was terrible, brought to the table cold, the waitress/waiter kept ignoring you, etc. - are you going to write a negative review about your experience? Probably, right?
It's the same thing with "Rate my Professor" - most students will only write a review if their experience in that course was terrible - and even then, it was probably related to their poor grade and nothing the professor did! Or maybe. All I say is take "Rate my Professor" with a grain of salt and know that all reviews are going to skew towards bad.
All of you should utilize, at the end of each semester, the course survey - that information is available! You can access it here: https://scsonline.oia.arizona.edu/index.php
Preparing for Fall 2026 Priority Registration: Advising Team Update
Thank you for your patience during the last month as we hire and train new academic advisors for the team! We are excited to share that Archer Bowrie has joined our team and is already doing a great job of providing student support.
As we hire and train our second full-time advisor, we ask for your continued patience.
In preparation for the priority registration period, we have developed a strategy for handling all student requests for course planning and enrollment assistance for summer and fall 2026.
In lieu of individual appointments this cycle, we will be rolling out a series of Registration Information Sessions including group advising that are organized by class standing and that will be far enough in advance of your enrollment appointment to allow for follow up as necessary before you enroll. These sessions will help you prepare for priority registration and allow us to triage complex cases that mandate a 1:1 session with an advisor. We must focus the limited amount of available advisor time on 1:1s that are most necessary.
Once the Registrar assigns enrollment appointments for students in UAccess, personalized emails will go out to students from the Neuroscience Advising Team. These emails will include your enrollment appointment, action items for you, and details of your Registration Information group session.
*If you are planning to graduate in Fall 2026 or Winter 2026, please email me directly so we can coordinate a time for you to meet with an advisor to review your graduation requirements, assist you in filing for degree candidacy, and create your final course plan.
We appreciate your understanding and flexibility, and we look forward to helping you prepare for a successful registration!
