General Borrowing Policies and Procedures for students, faculty members, employees and alumni
A. Undergraduate Students
Undergraduate students are allowed to borrow three (3) books for a week, renewable once only for Filipiniana and Circulation books.
Theses are STRICTLY for ROOM USE - Only. Only abstracts & bibliographies are allowed to be photocopied.
Instructional Media Materials, Vertical File Materials and books from the General Reference Section are also STRICTLY for ROOM USE - Only.
Students who are also faculty members can borrow five (5) books.
B. Faculty Members
Faculty members may borrow five (5) books for two (2) weeks renewable only once.
Faculty members from the branch can only photocopy books that are found in the library.
SHS faculty members may borrow three (3) books for a week, Renewable once.
C. Employees
Employees may borrow three (3) books for a week, renewable only once.
Employees from the branch can only photocopy books that are found in the library.
D. Alumni / Visiting Users
Alumni / Visiting Users can have access to library materials but STRICTLY for ROOM USE - only.
Requirements:
For Alumni: Alumni ID
For Visiting Users: Referral Letter from their Chief Librarian and a fee of fifty pesos (P50.00) payable at the Bursar's Office.
E. Photocopy
Photocopying of books / periodicals is limited to twenty (20) minutes.
F. Fines and Penalties for defaced, mutilated and lost borrowed library materials
Students with overdue books will be charged ten pesos (P10.00) / book / day including Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays payable at the Bursar's Office.
Faculty members & employees will be charged twenty pesos (P20.00) / book / day payable at the Bursar's Office.
If the pages are slightly torn, upon the return of the book, a fine of one hundred pesos (P100.00) will be charged payable at the Bursar's Office.
If the pages are severely torn, upon the return of the book, a replacement of the same or its latest edition is required within a week plus, one hundred pesos (P100.00) processing fee payable at the Bursar's Office. Borrowers who do not replace the book will not be issued clearance.
A lost book while out on loan must be replaced with the same title within a week plus one hundred pesos (P100.00) processing fee.
G. Library Service
Two weeks before the final examinations, all books shall be for room use only.
Reader's services shall cease 15 minutes before the indicated closing time to enable the library staff to put their area in order for the next day's operation.
In units where an open-shelf system is adopted, library users are required to deposit their personal things, except money and valuables, at the baggage / control counters.
Library Clearance - is secured by all faculty members every end of a semester / summer, by all regular employees who will be on leave for a month or a longer period, and by all students when they apply for their academic documents.
H. Instructional Media Materials
Faculty members must fill up the instructional Media Resources Reservation Form.
Availability for the use of the viewing room is on a first - come - first - serve basis.
I. Conduct inside the Library
A quiet atmosphere conducive to serious study and learning must be observed at all times. Unnecessary noise, loud conversation and discussion must be avoided.
All belongings should not be left unattended. Librarians & staff will not be responsible for safekeeping.
Anyone creating excessive noise and disturbance that disrupts the normal operations of the library will be asked to leave.
Eating, drinking and littering inside the library are strictly prohibited.
Writing on books and other library materials; as well as on the tables and chairs, theft and destruction of library properties are also prohibited and are subject to disciplinary action.
Mobile phones must be in a non-audible ring setting (vibrate).
Students showing PDA are not allowed in the library.
Harassment of library staff and use of abusive and lewd language are also strictly prohibited.
