Arcadia School District
Referendum April 3
Q What is the cost of building this facility?
The base package is $16 million, but the school district would only be responsible for $4 million. If the District passes a $4 million referendum this April, it would be eligible to receive a large private donation of $12 million from the Ronald and Joyce Wanek Foundation to help finance the construction of this facility.
Q Would there be a membership fee?
Yes. Affordable memberships and facility rental fee options would be provided to the community. Memberships would be available for daily, monthly, and yearly durations. Please see the District website for specific costs.
Q What would be the hours of operation?
Monday through Friday - 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Saturday and Sunday - 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Q Would it be staffed?
Yes, by School District of Arcadia employees.
Q How would safety and security be addressed?
The facility would be equipped with security cameras and gates/doors separating the school from community access, and would have supervision/staffing.
Q What school activities would happen in the community center?
Varsity competitions and school events.
Q How would the public access the facility?
The public would have full access to the community center via a separate entrance.
Q When would construction be completed?
If the referendum passes in April, a detailed design process would begin, followed by bidding. Ground would be broken in the fall of 2018, and the new facility would open in the fall of 2019.
