Academic & Career Planning (ACP) at Arcadia High School is a student-driven, adult-supported process designed to help students explore their interests, identify their strengths, and create a personalized plan for life after high school. Throughout their school experience, students explore career options, set academic and career goals, and participate in activities that help connect what they are learning in the classroom to future opportunities.
ACP is an ongoing process that grows and changes along with each student. Through career exploration, interest inventories, course planning, college and technical college visits, career fairs, job shadows, guest speakers, military exploration, financial aid information, and other experiences, students are encouraged to learn more about themselves and the many pathways available after graduation.
The goal of ACP is to help students make informed decisions about their futures. By connecting academics with real-world opportunities, students can better understand how their interests, skills, and goals relate to possible careers. Students are encouraged to explore all postsecondary pathways, including entering the workforce, apprenticeships and career training, military service, technical college, and two- or four-year colleges and universities.
In the following pages, you will find an overview of the Academic & Career Planning requirements, activities, and opportunities offered at Arcadia High School throughout the current and previous school years. These experiences represent just some of the ways Arcadia supports students as they explore career pathways, prepare for life after graduation, and work toward their individual academic and career goals.
Students also have access to Xello, an online college and career readiness platform. Through Xello, students can explore careers, identify interests and strengths, research colleges and training programs, develop future plans, and complete ACP activities throughout their middle and high school years.
At Arcadia High School, our goal is for every student to graduate with a better understanding of who they are, where they want to go, and the steps they can take to get there.
