Tailor's Tape

By Kaitlyn Piller

Artwork by Caitlyn Rudolph

The fruits of desire dangle, hanging in wait

The animal froths at the mouth, starving, and filled with hate

Jaws clasp onto its own leg and proceed to mangle

Hanging in wait, the fruits of desire dangle

The tape levitates around the body

I wish to be somebody

A figure of the perfect shape

Around the body levitates the tape

Dreaming of both the corset and the knife

Envy the corpse that carries the ideal life

Are you alive or do you force it?

Dreaming of both the knife and the corset

Starving has never felt so beautiful

Yet so very sick, as per usual

The knife and the meat- watch it carving

Has never felt so beautiful, starving

Do you live to eat or eat to live

Is it all you can give

Or do you just give in to defeat

Do you eat to live or live to eat?
